Indra
Gayatri (probable for RV 5.38; requires metrical verification)
This short hymn to Indra praises the vastness of his generosity and the far-reaching power of his protection, asking him to increase the worshippers’ "dyumnā"—luminous strengths and victorious energies. It recalls Indra’s forceful might (śuṣma) that rules both heaven and the moving earth-field for the sake of devotees, and it culminates in a plea to dwell safely within his shelter (śarman), well-guarded by his aid.

Mantra 1
उरोष्ट इन्द्र राधसो विभ्वी रातिः शतक्रतो । अधा नो विश्वचर्षणे द्युम्ना सुक्षत्र मंहय ॥
इंद्र, तुम्हारी दौलत बहुत बड़ी है। तुम जो देते हो वो सब तक पहुँचता है। तुम सौ शक्तियों के मालिक हो। हम सब की मदद करो। हम लोगों को आगे बढ़ाओ। हमारी ताकत बढ़ा दो।

यदीमिन्द्र श्रवाय्यमिषं शविष्ठ दधिषे । पप्रथे दीर्घश्रुत्तमं हिरण्यवर्ण दुष्टरम् ॥
जब इंद्र तुम अपनी ताकत लगाते हो, तो तुम्हारी आवाज़ दूर तक जाती है। तुम्हारी चमक सोना जैसी है। तुम इतने मज़बूत हो कि तुम्हारा कोई भी दुश्मन तुम्हारा सामना नहीं कर सकता।

शुष्मासो ये ते अद्रिवो मेहना केतसापः । उभा देवावभिष्टये दिवश्च ग्मश्च राजथः ॥
इंद्र, तुम्हारी शक्तियाँ बहुत तेज़ हैं। वो आती हैं और पकड़ लेती हैं। तुम आकाश और धरती दोनों पर राज करते हो। तुम हमारी मदद के लिए हमेशा रेडी हो।

उतो नो अस्य कस्य चिद्दक्षस्य तव वृत्रहन् । अस्मभ्यं नृम्णमा भरास्मभ्यं नृमणस्यसे ॥
इंद्र, तुमने बड़े असुर को हराया है। तुम्हारी जो भी शक्ति है, उसका हिस्सा हमें भी दो। हम भी बहादुर बन जाएँ। तुम हमें सोचने की ताकत दो।

नू त आभिरभिष्टिभिस्तव शर्मञ्छतक्रतो । इन्द्र स्याम सुगोपाः शूर स्याम सुगोपाः ॥
इंद्र, तुम्हारी शरण में हम सेफ हैं। तुम्हारी मदद से हमारा ख्याल रखो। तुम बहादुर हो और सौ शक्तियों के मालिक हो। हमें अपनी हिफाज़त में रखना।
