Agni
This hymn praises Agni as the luminous, all-illumining presence who shelters the singer and makes the offering effective. Agni is celebrated as the swift messenger who, delighted by hymns, draws the gods toward the sacrifice and becomes himself the first “havya,” the primordial offering. The verses emphasize Agni’s greatness, his elder rays, and his role in awakening and increasing the earliest divine energies.

Mantra 1
अयं स यस्य शर्मन्नवोभिरग्नेरेधते जरिताभिष्टौ । ज्येष्ठेभिर्यो भानुभिॠषूणां पर्येति परिवीतो विभावा ॥
यह अग्नि है। उसकी शरण में जो गाता है वो अपना काम ठीक से करता है। अग्नि की चमक इतनी है कि वो सबसे बड़ी रोशनी है। वो रिशियों के पास अपनी किरणों से चलता है। वो ऐसे है जैसे कोई चमकता हुआ दीपक सब जगह फैल जाए।

यो भानुभिर्विभावा विभात्यग्निर्देवेभिॠतावाजस्रः । आ यो विवाय सख्या सखिभ्योऽपरिह्वृतो अत्यो न सप्तिः ॥
अग्नि अपनी किरणों से चमकता है और सब जगह रोशनी देता है। वो देवियों के साथ चलता है और सचाई को बरकरार रखता है। वो अपने दोस्तों के लिए दोस्ती बढ़ाता है। कोई रास्ता नहीं रोकता उस्से। वो ऐसे है जैसे तेज़ घोड़ा अपने ग्रुप के साथ दौड़ता है।

ईशे यो विश्वस्या देववीतेरीशे विश्वायुरुषसो व्युष्टौ । आ यस्मिन्मना हवींष्यग्नावरिष्टरथः स्कभ्नाति शूषैः ॥
अग्नि सब देवियों के कामों का बॉस है। सुबह जब सूरज निकलता है तब वो सब जगह है। लोग अपना मन उसमें लगाते हैं और अपनी भावनाएँ उसके पास रखते हैं। वो ऐसे है जैसे कोई रथ जो कभी टूटा नहीं और अपनी ताकत से चलता रहता है।

शूषेभिर्वृधो जुषाणो अर्कैर्देवाँ अच्छा रघुपत्वा जिगाति । मन्द्रो होता स जुह्वा यजिष्ठः सम्मिश्लो अग्निरा जिघर्ति देवान् ॥
अग्नि अपनी ताकत से बड़ा होता है और गाते हुए देवियों के पास जल्दी पहुँचता है। वो पूजा का मेन पंडित है जो सबसे अच्छा पूजा करता है। वो अपने हाथ में पूजा की थाली लेकर देवियों को बुलाता है। वो सब मिल के ऐसा करता है जैसे सब एक हो जाएँ।

तमुस्रामिन्द्रं न रेजमानमग्निं गीर्भिर्नमोभिरा कृणुध्वम् । आ यं विप्रासो मतिभिर्गृणन्ति जातवेदसं जुह्वं सहानाम् ॥
अग्नि को शब्दों और झुक के नमस्ते करो। वो ऐसे है जैसे इंद्र जो कभी हिलता नहीं। रिशि लोग अपनी समझ से उसकी तारीफ करते हैं। उसका नाम जातवेदस है जो सब कुछ जानता है। वो ताकत वाला है जो हर चीज़ जीत लेता है।

सं यस्मिन्विश्वा वसूनि जग्मुर्वाजे नाश्वाः सप्तीवन्त एवैः । अस्मे ऊतीरिन्द्रवाततमा अर्वाचीना अग्न आ कृणुष्व ॥
अग्नि भगवान, जिसमें सारी दौलत इकट्ठी हो जाती है, जैसे घोड़े रेस के लिए अपनी टीम के साथ आते हैं। आप उन मदद को हमारे लिए लाओ। वो इंद्र की ताकत से भरे हैं और हमारी तरफ मुड़ के आओ। आप ही हमारे लिए वो शक्ति लाओ।

अधा ह्यग्ने मह्ना निषद्या सद्यो जज्ञानो हव्यो बभूथ । तं ते देवासो अनु केतमायन्नधावर्धन्त प्रथमास ऊमाः ॥
अग्नि, आपकी बड़ी ताकत है, आप उसपे बैठे हो। आप तुरंत पैदा हुए और भगवान बन गए। देवता लोग आपके निशान के पीछे चले गए। उनकी पहली शक्ति ने आपको बड़ा कर दिया।
