pulastya uvāca | tato gacchennṛpaśreṣṭha liṃgaṃ pāpaharaṃ param | uddālakena muninā sthāpitaṃ lokaviśrutam
पुलस्त्य बोले—हे नृपश्रेष्ठ, तब उस परम पापहर लिंग के दर्शन हेतु जाओ, जिसे मुनि उद्दालक ने स्थापित किया है और जो लोक-लोक में विख्यात है।
Pulastya
Tirtha: Uddālakeśvara
Type: kshetra
Listener: Nṛpaśreṣṭha (king; traditionally Bhīṣma/Janamejaya-type interlocutor in tīrtha dialogues)
Scene: Pulastya instructs the king to proceed to a renowned sin-destroying liṅga; the liṅga is shown as ancient, with sage Uddālaka performing installation rites amid forested hills.
Pilgrimage to a consecrated Śiva-liṅga and reverence for it is presented as a powerful means of purification.
The Uddālaka-established Śiva-liṅga, celebrated as Uddālakeśvara in this chapter’s māhātmya.
Gacchet—one should go/undertake pilgrimage to the liṅga (a prescribed act of tīrtha-yātrā).
