पुरा विष्णौ तपत्यत्र तल्लिंगं स्वयमेव हि । तत्राविरासीत्तेजस्वि तेन क्षेत्रमिदं शुभम्
purā viṣṇau tapatyatra talliṃgaṃ svayameva hi | tatrāvirāsīttejasvi tena kṣetramidaṃ śubham
पूर्वकाल में जब विष्णु यहाँ तप कर रहे थे, तब वह लिंग स्वयं प्रकट हुआ। तेजस्वी रूप से वहाँ प्रादुर्भूत होने के कारण यह क्षेत्र शुभ है।
