शारदोवाच । त्वयोपदिष्टं यत्नेन चरिष्याम्यपि दुश्चरम् । तद्व्रतं ब्रूहि मे ब्रह्मन्विधानं वद विस्तरात्

शारद ने कहा: आपने जो उपदेश दिया है, उसे मैं यत्नपूर्वक—चाहे वह कठिन ही क्यों न हो—आचरूँगा। हे ब्रह्मन्, वह व्रत मुझे बताइए और उसकी विधि विस्तार से कहिए।
