जवेनागत्य तं देशं मागधैरभिपूरितम् । दह्यमानं क्रंदमानं हृतस्त्रीसुतगोधनम्
javenāgatya taṃ deśaṃ māgadhairabhipūritam | dahyamānaṃ kraṃdamānaṃ hṛtastrīsutagodhanam
वह वेग से उस देश में पहुँचा, जो मागधों की सेना से भर गया था—जो जल रहा था, करुण क्रन्दन से गूँज रहा था, और जहाँ स्त्रियाँ, पुत्र, गौ-धन तथा संपत्ति हर ली गई थी।
