गजाननपूजा तथा औपासन-होमविधिः
Worship of Gajānana and the Procedure of Aupāsana-Homa
वरं प्राणपरित्यागश्छेदनं शिरसोऽपि मे । न त्वनभ्यर्च्य भुञ्जीयां भगवन्तं त्रिलोचनम्
varaṃ prāṇaparityāgaśchedanaṃ śiraso'pi me | na tvanabhyarcya bhuñjīyāṃ bhagavantaṃ trilocanam
मेरे लिए प्राण त्याग देना—यहाँ तक कि सिर कटवा देना—श्रेष्ठ है; परन्तु भगवान त्रिलोचन (शिव) की पूजा किए बिना मैं भोजन न करूँ।
A devoted Shiva-bhakta speaking within the Kailasa Samhita narrative (devotee’s vow of precedence of worship before enjoyment)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Models niyama-bhakti: enjoyment (bhoga) is subordinated to prior worship; this discipline is treated as a direct conduit for Śiva’s grace and purification of the bound soul (paśu).
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that for a Shaiva devotee, honoring Pati (Lord Śiva) must precede all personal enjoyment; life itself is secondary to unwavering bhakti and reverence.
By insisting on worship before eating, the verse affirms daily Saguna upāsanā—such as offering to Śiva in the Liṅga—so that ordinary acts become sanctified through devotion.
Maintain a ‘pūjā-first’ discipline: perform Śiva-arcana (water, bilva, mantra such as the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) before meals, treating the act as naivedya and remembrance of Trilocana.
