इस दशति का विषय सोम पवमान का पवित्र छन्ने (पवित्र) से होकर स्वयं को शुद्ध करना है—यज्ञ में वही जीवनदायी, वर्षा-वर्षक और रोग-निवारक शक्ति बनकर प्रकट होता है। इसमें शोधन/छनन की धाराओं, जल-तरंगों और घृत-सी निर्मलता की छवियाँ हैं; वह महान पोषण और वर्षा-समृद्धि प्रदान करे, यजमानों को अयक्ष्मा (रोग-रहित) करे, रक्षांसि तथा शत्रु बाधाओं को दूर भगाए, प्राचीनवत् यज्ञ-प्रभाव को पुनः स्थापित करे, और अपनी दीप्ति से यज्ञ को प्रकाशित कर सफल बनाए—देवों द्वारा अत्यन्त वाञ्छित (देववीतमः) होकर।

पवस्व वृष्टिमा सु नो ऽपामूर्मिं दिवस्परि अयक्ष्मा बृहतीरिषः
हे सोम! तू अपने को पवित्र कर—वृष्टि देने वाला, हमारे लिए मंगलमय। दिव से (उतरती) जल-तरंग के समान प्रवाहित हो। निरामय होकर, महान् तृप्ति और पोषण प्रदान कर।

तया पवस्व धारया यया गाव इहागमन् जन्यास उप नो गृहम्
उस धारा से तू पवित्र हो, जिससे गौएँ यहाँ आई हैं; और जन भी हमारे गृह के निकट आएँ।
Mantra 3
घृतं पवस्व धारया यज्ञेषु देववीतमः अस्मभ्यं वृष्टिमा पव
घृत के समान उस धारा से तू पवित्र हो। यज्ञों में देवों द्वारा अत्यन्त प्रिय (देववीतम) होकर, हमारे लिए—हे वृष्टिदाता—तू पवित्र हो।

स न ऊर्जे व्या3व्ययं पवित्रं धाव धारया देवासः शृणवन्हि कम्
हे (सोम)! हमारे पोषण हेतु धारा सहित पवित्र (पवित्रम्) छलनी (पवित्र) में से होकर वेग से प्रवाहित हो; देवगण निश्चय ही हमारे स्तोत्र को सुनें।

पवमानो असिष्यदद्रक्षांस्यपजङ्घनत् प्रत्नवद्रोचयन्रुचः
पवमान (सोम) प्रवाहित हुआ है; उसने राक्षसों को दूर हाँक दिया; प्राचीन काल की भाँति ऋचाओं के तेज को प्रकाशित करता हुआ।
