Sukta 8.39
अग्निमस्तोष्यृग्मियमग्निमीळा यजध्यै । अग्निर्देवाँ अनक्तु न उभे हि विदथे कविरन्तश्चरति दूत्यं नभन्तामन्यके समे ॥
agním astoṣi ṛgmíyam agním īḷā́ yajádhyai | agnír devā́n anaktu na ubhé hí vidáthe kavír antáś cárati dūtyám nabhantām anyaké samé ||
मैंने ऋचि-प्रेरित द्रष्टा अग्नि की स्तुति की है; यज्ञ में पूज्य अग्नि की मैं आराधना करता हूँ। अग्नि देवों का हमारे लिए अभिषेक करे, उन्हें हमारे ऊपर प्रतिष्ठित करे; क्योंकि दोनों सभाओं में वह कवि भीतर-भीतर दूत-कर्म करता चलता है—विरोधी शक्तियाँ दूसरे लोक में हाँकी जाएँ।
