Ascent of Suvela and the Ravana–Sugriva Duel
आलिङ् ग्यचालिङ् ग्यचबाहुयोक्स्रैस्संयोजयामासतुराहवेतौ ।सम्रम्भशिक्षाबलसम्प्रयुक्तौसंचेरतुस्सम्प्रतियुद्धमार्गैः ।।।।
āliṅgya cāliṅgya ca bāhuyokṣraiḥ saṃyojayāmāsatur āhave tau |
samrambhaśikṣābalasamprayuktau saṃceratuḥ sampratiyuddhamārgaiḥ ||
रण में वे दोनों बार-बार एक-दूसरे को आलिंगन कर, भुजाओं के बल से वक्षस्थल को दबाते हुए फिर-फिर भिड़ जाते थे। क्रोध, अभ्यास और बल से युक्त होकर वे निकट-युद्ध की विविध विधियों में विचरते थे॥
Squeezing their bodies of each other they dropped down between the boundary of the peak and the moat. They were gasping heavily for a moment and clung their body to each other jumping.
It contrasts trained strength with uncontrolled rage: dharma values skill and purpose, while warning that fury must be governed by right intention.
The duel becomes an intense clinch-and-wrestle exchange; both combatants repeatedly lock arms and apply varied close-fighting techniques.
Martial competence and tenacity; for Sugrīva, these serve loyalty to Rāma and the dharmic campaign.
