दितितपः-शक्रपरिचर्या-गर्भभेदः
Diti’s Penance, Indra’s Service, and the Severing of the Embryo
एवं भवतु, भद्रं ते शुचिर्भव तपोधने।जनयिष्यसि पुत्रं त्वं शक्रहन्तारमाहवे।।1.46.5।।
evaṃ bhavatu, bhadraṃ te śucir bhava tapo-dhane | janayiṣyasi putraṃ tvaṃ śakra-hantāram āhave || 1.46.5 ||
ऐसा ही हो। कल्याण हो, तप-धनवती देवि! तुम शुद्ध रहो; तुम युद्ध में शक्र (इन्द्र) का वध करने वाला पुत्र जनोगी।
"O one vested with the wealth of austerities! be it so. Prosperity to you! Remain chaste, you will deliver a son who will kill Indra in the battle.
Dharma is shown as fidelity to vows: the promised result depends on śauca (purity) and disciplined conduct.
Kāśyapa grants Diti her desired boon but conditions it upon her maintaining purity and observance.
Diti is directed toward self-control (saṃyama) and purity; Kāśyapa exemplifies truthful, conditional blessing.
