brahmayonir mahān āsīt kuśo nāma mahātapāḥ | akliṣṭavratadharmajñaḥ sajjanapratipūjakaḥ || 1.32.1 ||
ब्रह्मा-सम्भव महान् तपस्वी ‘कुश’ नाम से प्रसिद्ध था—अक्लान्त व्रतों में स्थिर, धर्म का ज्ञाता और सज्जनों का आदर करने वाला।
There was a great ascetic named Kusa, born to Brahma, as ascetic indefatigable in vows, knowldegeable in dharma and a respector of the virtuous.
