Sumitra’s Consolation to Kausalya
kīrtibhūtāṃ patākāṃ yo loke bhramayati prabhuḥ |
dharmasatyavratadhanaḥ kiṃ na prāptas tavātmajaḥ ||
Your all-competent son who considers righteousness and truth as wealth, is waving the flag of fame in this world. What is that which your son did not gain ?
True wealth is ethical integrity: dharma, satya, and faithful observance of vows are presented as higher than material gain.
Sumantrā consoles/assures Daśaratha by praising Rāma’s moral stature and worldwide renown even amid exile.
Rāma’s truthfulness and vow-keeping (satya-vrata) as the foundation of his greatness.
