Respect toward sages and elders (abhyavādana) is shown as a dharmic gateway to receiving guidance and blessings; humility before spiritual authority is presented as culturally and ethically foundational.
Within Jābāli’s broader attempt to persuade Rāma to return, a traditional exemplum is introduced: Kālindī approaches the sage Cyavana on Himavat seeking a boon for a son.
Kālindī’s reverence and disciplined approach to a sage—seeking legitimate means (blessing/boon) rather than coercion—highlights humility and faith in righteous counsel.
