तदद्भुतं स्थैर्यमवेक्ष्य राघवे समं जनो हर्षमवाप दुःखितः।न यात्ययोध्यामिति दुःखितोऽभवत् स्थिरप्रतिज्ञत्वमवेक्ष्य हर्षितः।।।।

tad adbhutaṃ sthairyam avekṣya rāghave samaṃ jano harṣam avāpa duḥkhitaḥ | na yāty ayodhyām iti duḥkhito ’bhavat sthira-pratijñatvam avekṣya harṣitaḥ ||

राघव की वह अद्भुत दृढ़ता देखकर जनसमुदाय को एक साथ दुःख और हर्ष हुआ—दुःख इस बात का कि वे अयोध्या नहीं जाएंगे, और हर्ष इस बात का कि उनकी प्रतिज्ञा अचल है।
