Ramayana — Ayodhya Kanda, Sarga 105, Shloka 27

Bharata’s Petition and Rama’s Instruction on Time and Mortality

evaṃ bhāryāś ca putrāś ca jñātayaś ca dhanāni ca | sametya vyavadhāvanti dhruvo hy eṣāṃ vinābhavaḥ || 2.105.27 ||

FAQs

Right grief and right duty: one should love and serve family, yet understand that separation is inevitable and not abandon dharma due to attachment.

Bharata applies the ocean-log simile to human relationships and possessions to counsel Rāma toward equanimity.

Vairāgya with compassion—detachment that does not deny relationships, but places them within the truth of impermanence.
