गंगेति स्मरणादेव क्षयं याति च पातकम् । कीर्तनादतिपापानि दर्शनाद्गुरुकल्मषम्

केवल “गंगा” नाम का स्मरण करने से ही पाप नष्ट हो जाता है। उसका कीर्तन करने से महापाप भी मिट जाते हैं, और उसके दर्शन मात्र से भारी कल्मष भी शुद्ध हो जाता है।
