भीष्म उवाच । अर्वाक्स्रोतास्तु कथितो भवता यस्तु मानुषः । ब्रह्मन्विस्तरतो ब्रूहि ब्रह्मा तमसृजद्यथा

भीष्म बोले—आपने मनुष्य को ‘अर्वाक्स्रोतस्’ (जिसकी धारा नीचे की ओर बहती है) कहा है। हे ब्रह्मन्, विस्तार से बताइए कि ब्रह्मा ने उसे कैसे रचा॥
