The Greatness of Offering Piṇḍas at Viṣṇvādipada (Viṣṇupada) — Gayā Śrāddha Procedure and Fruits
तत्र विष्णुपदं दिव्यं दर्शनात्पापनाशनम् । स्पर्शनात्पूजनाच्चापि पितॄणां मोक्षदायकम् ॥ १९ ॥
tatra viṣṇupadaṃ divyaṃ darśanātpāpanāśanam | sparśanātpūjanāccāpi pitṝṇāṃ mokṣadāyakam || 19 ||
वहाँ दिव्य ‘विष्णुपद’ का दर्शन मात्र पापों का नाश करता है; और उसका स्पर्श तथा पूजन भी पितरों को मोक्ष देने वाला होता है।
Narada (in dialogue context with the Sanatkumara tradition; Uttara-Bhaga tirtha narration)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It declares the exceptional potency of the Vishnupada tirtha: darśana removes pāpa, while sparśa and pūjā extend merit so powerfully that it can aid the mokṣa of one’s pitṛs.
Bhakti is shown as accessible and effective: simple devotional acts—seeing, touching, and worshipping Vishnu’s sacred presence—purify the devotee and generate grace that benefits even the ancestral lineage.
It aligns with Kalpa (ritual procedure): tirtha-darśana, sparśa, and pūjā are presented as concrete ritual-devotional actions connected with pitṛ-related rites (such as śrāddha/tarpaṇa) and their intended fruit.
