The Description of the Glory of Dvādaśī
स धात्रीस्नानसहितो रात्रौ जागरणान्वितः । विशोधयति पापानि कितवो हि यथा धनम् ॥ ९ ॥
sa dhātrīsnānasahito rātrau jāgaraṇānvitaḥ | viśodhayati pāpāni kitavo hi yathā dhanam || 9 ||
जो धात्री (आँवला) से संबद्ध स्नान करता है और रात्रि में जागरण करता है, वह पापों को वैसे शुद्ध कर देता है जैसे जुआरी धन को (चतुराई से) साफ कर देता है।
Narada (teaching in a Tirtha/Vrata-mahatmya sequence, traditionally framed as dialogue with Sanatkumara brothers)
Vrata: Dhātrī/Āmalakī-related observance (contextually tied to Āmalakī Ekādaśī traditions)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It teaches that combining a dhātrī (āmalakī)-related sacred bath with all-night vigil functions as a powerful purificatory observance (vrata/prāyaścitta) that removes accumulated pāpa.
Night-vigil (jāgaraṇa) is a classic bhakti discipline—staying awake in remembrance, worship, and recitation—here presented as a concrete practice that supports inner cleansing and devotion-centered living.
Ritual procedure and timing are implied (snāna and rātri-jāgaraṇa), aligning with Kalpa/Smārta-prayoga style observance rules rather than a technical focus on grammar or astrology.
