Adhyaya 31 — Naimittika and Related Śrāddha Rites: Sapiṇḍīkaraṇa, Eligibility, Timing, and Procedure
पितृतīrthena तोयं च दद्यात्तेभ्यः समाहितः ।
पितॄniddiśya यद्भक्त्या यजमानो नृपात्मज ॥
pitṛtīrthena toyañca dadyāttebhyaḥ samāhitaḥ / pitṝniddiśya yadbhaktyā yajamāno nṛpātmaja
समाहित और सावधान होकर पितृतీर्थ से उन्हें जल दे। हे नृपात्मज, जो कुछ भी वह भक्ति से करता है, उसे पितरों को समर्पित करके ही करे—यही उचित भाव है।

Technique (tīrtha) and intention (bhakti) must unite: the rite is not mechanical; devotion and collectedness are explicitly foregrounded.
