Adhyaya 28 — Alarka Inquires into Varna and Ashrama Dharma; Madalasa Defines the Fourfold Duties
अलर्क उवाच कथितोऽयं महाभागे ! राज्यतन्त्राश्रितस्त्वया ।
धर्मं तमहमिच्छामि श्रोतुं वर्णाश्रमात्मकम् ॥
alarka uvāca kathito 'yaṃ mahābhāge! rājyatantrāśritas tvayā / dharmaṃ tam aham icchāmi śrotuṃ varṇāśramātmakam
अलर्क ने कहा—हे आर्या, आपने राजधर्म के प्रसंग में इस धर्म का वर्णन किया है। मैं वर्णों और आश्रमों से सम्बन्धित वही धर्म सुनना चाहता हूँ।
