Adhyaya 28 — Alarka Inquires into Varna and Ashrama Dharma; Madalasa Defines the Fourfold Duties
तत्रैव वा गुरोर्गेहे द्विजो निष्ठामवाप्नुयात् ।
गुरोरभावे तत्पुत्रे तच्छिष्ये तత్సुतं विना ॥
tatraiva vā guror gehe dvijo niṣṭhām avāpnuyāt /
guror abhāve tatputre tacchiṣye tatsutaṃ vinā //
वहीं—उसी आश्रम में या गुरु के घर—द्विज को अपने अनुशासन की दृढ़ सिद्धि प्राप्त करनी चाहिए। यदि गुरु अनुपस्थित हों तो गुरु-पुत्र के अधीन, और वह न हो तो गुरु-शिष्य के अधीन—उनका अतिक्रमण किए बिना—यह सिद्धि प्राप्त करे।
