tatas tā naiṣadhaṁ dṛṣṭvā sambhrāntāḥ paramāṅganāḥ | āsanebhyaḥ samutpetus tejasā tasya dharṣitāḥ ||

The verse highlights how true tejas (radiant excellence—royal, moral, or spiritual) naturally commands respect and reshapes social conduct: those who witness it become self-aware, restrained, and rise in decorum without coercion.
As the king of Niṣadha (Nala) appears, the women of the inner palace are startled; feeling overawed and abashed by his brilliance, they rise from their seats and stand, signaling reverence and the sudden shift in atmosphere caused by his presence.
