Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 50 — Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Appraisal of Bhīmasena (भीमसेनभयवर्णनम्)
निष्कर्णामायसी स्थूलां सुपार्श्वा काउ्चनीं गदाम् | शतघ्नीं शतनिर्हादां कथं शक्ष्यन्ति मे सुता:
niṣkarṇāmāyasīṁ sthūlāṁ supārśvāṁ kāñcanīṁ gadām | śataghnīṁ śatanirghādāṁ kathaṁ śakṣyanti me sutāḥ ||
धृतराष्ट्र बोले—उसकी लोहे की गदा सीधी, मोटी, सुन्दर पार्श्वभाग वाली और सुवर्ण से विभूषित है; वह शत-शत वज्रपात के समान घोर नाद करती है और एक ही प्रहार में सैकड़ों को गिरा देती है। मेरे पुत्र उसका आघात कैसे सह सकेंगे?
