अविलम्बमनायस्तमद्रुतं धीरमूर्जितम् । असंसक्ताक्षरपदं स्वरभावसमन्वितम्
avilambam anāyastam adrutaṃ dhīram ūrjitam | asaṃsaktākṣarapadaṃ svarabhāvasamanvitam ||
कथावाचन न तो बहुत रुक-रुककर हो, न ही अत्यन्त शीघ्र। वह सहज, धीर और ओजस्वी गति से हो; अक्षर और पद आपस में न गुँथे रहें, स्पष्ट उच्चारण हो, और स्वर तथा भाव एकरूप हों— तभी अर्थ मधुरता से प्रकट होता है।
