नागभायोवाच आर्य: सूर्यरथं वोढुं गतोडसौ मासचारिक: । सप्ताष्टभिर्दिनैर्विप्र दर्शयिष्यत्यसंशयम्
Nāgabhāryovāca: āryaḥ sūryarathaṁ voḍhuṁ gato ’sau māsacārikaḥ | saptāṣṭabhir dinair vipra darśayiṣyaty asaṁśayam ||
नागपत्नी ने कहा—विप्रवर! मेरे आर्य पति सूर्यदेव का रथ ढोने गए हैं। वर्ष में एक बार एक मास तक उन्हें यह सेवा करनी पड़ती है। सात-आठ दिनों में ही वे यहाँ निःसंदेह दर्शन देंगे।
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse highlights steadfastness in assigned duty (dharma) and the ethical value of truthful assurance: even extraordinary beings are bound to periodic service that sustains cosmic order, and one should speak with clarity and certainty when one knows the truth.
A Nāga’s wife explains to a brāhmaṇa that her husband is away performing a recurring month-long service—bearing the Sun’s chariot—and she confidently promises his return within seven or eight days.
