परिव्राजक-आचारः (Conduct of the Wandering Renunciant) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 269
चतुर्थोपनिषद् धर्म: साधारण इति स्मृति: । संसिद्धै: साध्यते नित्यं ब्राह्मणैर्नियतात्मभि:
caturthopaniṣad dharmaḥ sādhāraṇa iti smṛtiḥ | saṃsiddhaiḥ sādhyate nityaṃ brāhmaṇair niyatātmabhiḥ ||
कपिल ने कहा—तुरीय ब्रह्म-सम्बन्धी उपनिषद्-विद्या से जुड़ा जो अनुशासन है, स्मृति के अनुसार वह साधारण (सर्वसामान्य) धर्म है। परन्तु उसका निरन्तर सिद्ध होना केवल उन्हीं ब्राह्मणों से होता है जो आत्मसंयमी हैं, तप से सिद्ध हुए हैं और ब्रह्म में निष्ठ हैं—वे ही उस मार्ग का सतत अभ्यास और परिपालन कर पाते हैं।
