परिव्राजक-आचारः (Conduct of the Wandering Renunciant) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 269
गृहमेवाभिसंश्रित्य ततो<चन्ये ब्रह्मचारिण: । त एते दिवि दृश्यन्ते ज्योतिर्भूता द्विजातय:
gṛham evābhisaṃśritya tato 'nye brahmacāriṇaḥ | te ete divi dṛśyante jyotirbhūtā dvijātayaḥ ||
कपिल बोले—कुछ लोग गृहस्थ-धर्म का ही आश्रय लेते हैं और कुछ ब्रह्मचर्य में स्थित रहते हैं। वे द्विज, अपने-अपने आश्रमधर्म का विधिपूर्वक पालन करके, अन्त में ज्योतिर्मय होकर आकाश में दीख पड़ते हैं।
