Kāla as Regulator; Pacification of Grief
yad etan manyase pārtha na jyāyo 'sti dhanād iti | na svargo na sukhaṃ nārtho nirdhanasyeti tan mṛṣā ||
Wealth is not the highest good, and lack of wealth does not automatically bar a person from happiness, meaningful aims, or spiritual merit; ethical and inner qualities can surpass material possession.
In the didactic discourse of the Śānti Parva, Vaiśampāyana addresses Pārtha (Arjuna), correcting a materialistic assumption and redirecting attention toward higher values than mere धन (wealth).
