कपोत-लुब्धकसंवादः — Hunter’s Remorse and Renunciatory Resolve

न धर्मवचन वाचा नैव बुद्धयेति नः श्रुतम्‌ । इति बार्हस्पतं ज्ञानं प्रोवाच मघवा स्वयम्‌

Transliteration

na dharmavacana-vācā naiva buddhayeti naḥ śrutam | iti bārhaspataṃ jñānaṃ provāca maghavā svayam ||

Translation

भीष्म बोले—हमने सुना है कि केवल वाणी से, और न ही केवल बुद्धि (तर्क) से, धर्म का निश्चय होता है। यह बृहस्पति का मत है कि शास्त्रवचन और युक्ति—दोनों के समुच्चय से—धर्म का निर्णय होता है; यही बात स्वयं मघवा (इन्द्र) ने कही है।
