Vighasāśin and the Difficulty of Gārhasthya
ṛṣaya ūcuḥ | śṛṇumaste vacastāta panthāno viditāstava | niyoge caiva dharmātman sthātumicchāma śādhi naḥ |

Those seeking dharma should approach a recognized knower of the ‘paths’ (right courses of action) with humility and readiness to follow guidance; ethical life is sustained by disciplined receptivity to instruction.
A group of sages address a righteous person, affirming his discernment of the proper paths and expressing their willingness to act under his directive; they request explicit instruction on what they should do.
