सुतसोमस्य सासिं त॑ बाहुं छित्त्वा नरर्षभ । पुनरप्याहनत् पाश्वें स भिन्नहृदयो5पतत्
Sutasomasya sāsiṃ taṃ bāhuṃ chittvā nararṣabha | punar apy āhanat pārśve sa bhinnahṛdayo 'patat ||
संजय बोले—हे नरश्रेष्ठ! अश्वत्थामा ने सुतसोम की तलवार सहित बाँह काट दी और फिर उसकी पसली में पुनः प्रहार किया। हृदय-प्रदेश फट जाने से सुतसोम धरती पर गिर पड़ा।
