ततो महान्‌ निनद: प्रादुरासीत्‌ सस्त्रीकुमारस्य पुरस्य तस्य । अथाब्रवीत्‌ केशव: संनिवर्त्य शब्दं श्रुत्वा योषितां क्रोशतीनाम्‌,इतनेहीमें उस नगरकी स्त्रियों और बालकोंके रोनेका महान्‌ आर्तनाद सुनायी पड़ा। विलाप करती हुई उन युवतियोंके करुणक्रन्दन सुनकर श्रीकृष्ण पुन: लौट आये और उन्हें सान्त्वना देते हुए बोले--

tato mahān ninadaḥ prādurāsīt sa-strī-kumārasya purasya tasya | athābravīt keśavaḥ saṃnivartya śabdaṃ śrutvā yoṣitāṃ krośatīnām |

तभी उस नगर में स्त्रियों और बालकों का महान् आर्तनाद उठ खड़ा हुआ। विलाप करती हुई स्त्रियों का क्रन्दन सुनकर केशव लौट आए और उन्हें शान्त करने के लिए बोलने लगे।

Educational Q&A

Even amid inevitable collapse and the consequences of collective wrongdoing, dharma expresses itself as immediate compassion: responding to the suffering of the vulnerable (women and children), restraining oneself, and offering consolation rather than indifference.

A loud, anguished outcry rises from the city where women and children are present. Hearing their wailing, Kṛṣṇa (Keśava) turns back and begins to address them, intending to calm and console them.
