Droṇa’s Conditional Boon: The Plan to Capture Yudhiṣṭhira (द्रोणेन युधिष्ठिरग्रहणोपायः)
न क्रियाभिरनन चास्त्रेण मृत्यो: कश्षिन्निवार्यते जान पड़ता है, कोई भी न तो ब्रह्मचर्यके पालनसे, न वेदोंके स्वाध्यायसे, न कर्मोके अनुष्ठानसे और न अस्त्रोंके प्रयोगसे ही अपनेको मृत्युसे बचा सकता है
na kriyābhir na cāstreṇa mṛtyoḥ kaścin nivāryate
वैशम्पायन बोले— मृत्यु को कोई भी न तो कर्मकाण्ड से, न अस्त्रों के प्रयोग से टाल सकता है। न ब्रह्मचर्य के पालन से, न वेदों के स्वाध्याय से, न कर्मों के अनुष्ठान से—किसी उपाय से भी प्राण का वह नियत अंत रोका नहीं जा सकता; काल के विधान को कोई नहीं लाँघता।
