दृष्टवा च पतितं भीष्म॑ पुत्रो दःशासनस्तव । उत्तमं जवमास्थाय द्रोणानीकमुपाद्रवत्
dṛṣṭvā ca patitaṃ bhīṣmaṃ putro duḥśāsanas tava | uttamaṃ javam āsthāya droṇānīkam upādravat ||
संजय बोले—भीष्म को रणभूमि में गिरा देख आपका पुत्र दुःशासन अत्यन्त वेग धारण कर द्रोणाचार्य की सेना-व्यूह की ओर दौड़ पड़ा। उस आकस्मिक धावे और दृश्य ने कौरव-सेना के विषाद को और गहरा कर दिया।
