अरक्ष्यमाणं हि वृको हन्यात् सिंहं महाहवे । मा वृकेणेव गाड़ेयं घातयेम शिखण्डिना
arakṣyamāṇaṃ hi vṛko hanyāt siṃhaṃ mahāhave | mā vṛkeṇeva gāḍeyaṃ ghātayema śikhaṇḍinā ||
महायुद्ध में यदि सिंह की रक्षा न की जाए तो उसे भेड़िया भी मार सकता है; पर हम भेड़िये के समान शिखण्डी के हाथों सिंह-सदृश भीष्म का वध नहीं होने देंगे।
