Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
विमूढास्मि कृतानेन न मे स्वास्थ्यं यथा पुरा । विह्वला चास्मि भगवंश्लेतो नष्टे च मेडनघ
vimūḍhāsmi kṛtānena na me svāsthyaṃ yathā purā | vihvalā cāsmi bhagavaṃś ceto naṣṭaṃ ca me 'nagha ||
निष्पाप अग्निदेव! इसने मुझे मूर्च्छित-सी कर दिया है। मेरा स्वास्थ्य अब पहले जैसा नहीं रहा। भगवन्! मैं अत्यन्त व्याकुल हो गई हूँ; मेरी चेतना लुप्त-सी हो रही है।
भीष्म उवाच
Actions have consequences not only externally but internally: when a deed is perceived as harmful or overwhelming, it can destabilize health, clarity, and conscience. The verse models ethical self-awareness through admission of confusion and distress.
Bhīṣma speaks in a moment of acute agitation, stating that a certain act has left him bewildered and unwell; his mind and steadiness are failing as he addresses a revered, blameless figure.
