Mataṅga–Śakra Dialogue on Tapas, Status, and Moral Qualities
sarvāṇi yeṣāṃ gāḍeyais toyaiḥ kāryāṇi dehinām | gāṃ tyaktvā mānavā vipra divi tiṣṭhanti te janāḥ ||
A life of disciplined purity and austerity—symbolized here by fulfilling one’s bodily needs through a sanctifying water-based regimen—produces spiritual merit that leads to heavenly attainment after death.
A Siddha addresses a brāhmaṇa and states a doctrinal point: certain practitioners whose embodied duties are completed through a specific austere practice involving water, upon dying, leave the earth and dwell in heaven.
