त्रयाणामपि पिण्डानां श्रुत्वा भगवतो गतिम्
trayāṇām api piṇḍānāṃ śrutvā bhagavato gatim | śrāddhasya rahasyaṃ jñātaṃ; devadūta! tvayā yat śrāddhavidher nirṇayaḥ pṛṣṭaḥ, tadanusāreṇa trayāṇām api piṇḍānāṃ gatiḥ kathyate | sāvadhānaḥ śṛṇu me ||
भगवान् विष्णु से तीनों पिण्डों की गति सुनकर उसने श्राद्ध का रहस्य जान लिया। हे देवदूत! तुमने जो श्राद्ध-विधि का निर्णय पूछा है, उसके अनुसार अब तीनों पिण्डों की गति बतायी जाती है। सावधान होकर मुझसे सुनो।
