खाण्डवदाहे देवविमुखता तथा मयदानवाभयदानम् | Khāṇḍava Burning: Devas Withdraw; Maya Granted Protection
कथं हि शिरसो मध्ये कृतं तेन पं मम । मर्षयिष्यामि गोविन्द पादस्पर्शमिवोरग:,“गोविन्द! जैसे सर्प पैरकी ठोकर नहीं सह सकता, उसी प्रकार मैं उसने जो मेरे सिरपर पैर रख दिया है, उसे कैसे सह सकूँगा?
kathaṁ hi śiraso madhye kṛtaṁ tena paṁ mama | marṣayiṣyāmi govinda pādasparśam ivoragaḥ ||
वैशम्पायन बोले—गोविन्द! उसने मेरे सिर के बीचोंबीच पाँव रख दिया है; मैं उसे कैसे सहूँ? जैसे सर्प पैर का स्पर्श/ठोकर नहीं सह पाता, वैसे ही मैं इस अपमान को नहीं सह सकता।
