vipṛṣṭho dhṛtadevāyām eka ānakadundubheḥ śāntidevātmajā rājan praśama-prasitādayaḥ
Vipṛṣṭha is described here as a son of Ānakadundubhi (Vasudeva), born from his wife Dhṛtadevā.
In Canto 9 Śukadeva outlines royal and divine dynasties (vaṁśa) to show the historical and spiritual lineage culminating in Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s appearance in the Yadu line.
They remind a seeker that bhakti is received through lineage and remembrance—honoring devotees and sacred history strengthens faith, continuity, and commitment to dharma.
