Dvandva-nivṛtti and Ātma-viveka
नात्मा वपु: पार्थिवमिन्द्रियाणि देवा ह्यसुर्वायुर्जलम् हुताश: । मनोऽन्नमात्रं धिषणा च सत्त्व- महङ्कृति: खं क्षितिरर्थसाम्यम् ॥ २४ ॥
nātmā vapuḥ pārthivam indriyāṇi devā hy asur vāyur jalam hutāśaḥ mano ’nna-mātraṁ dhiṣaṇā ca sattvam ahaṅkṛtiḥ khaṁ kṣitir artha-sāmyam
पृथ्वी से बना यह भौतिक शरीर आत्मा नहीं है; न इन्द्रियाँ, न उनके अधिष्ठाता देव, न प्राणवायु; न बाह्य वायु, जल या अग्नि, और न ही मन। ये सब केवल जड़ पदार्थ हैं। इसी प्रकार बुद्धि, भौतिक चित्त, अहंकार, आकाश या पृथ्वी, विषय-भोग्य वस्तुएँ, यहाँ तक कि प्रकृति की मूल सम्यावस्था भी आत्मा की वास्तविक पहचान नहीं है।

In 11.28.24, Krishna explains that the ātmā is not the earth-made body, senses, mind, intelligence, false ego, or even the elements and guṇas; the Self is distinct from all material constituents.
