Varṇāśrama-dharma as a Path to Bhakti
Yuga-dharma Origins, Universal Virtues, Brahmacarya and Gṛhastha Duties
evaṁ-vidho nara-patir vimānenārka-varcasā vidhūyehāśubhaṁ kṛtsnam indreṇa saha modate
In this verse, the Bhagavatam says that a king who rules righteously becomes purified of inauspiciousness in this very life and attains heavenly enjoyment, even rejoicing with Indra.
Indra represents the celestial administration and the attainment of svarga; the verse indicates that dharmic kingship brings recognized heavenly merit and association with Indra’s realm.
Lead with responsibility and integrity: protect others, act fairly, and avoid exploitative rule—such dharmic leadership reduces harm and brings inner purification and lasting respect.
