Uddhava Sent to Vraja: Consolation to Nanda-Yaśodā and the Gopīs’ Separation
kaccid aṅga mahā-bhāga sakhā naḥ śūra-nandanaḥ āste kuśaly apatyādyair yukto muktaḥ suhṛd-vrataḥ
It shows the Vrajavāsīs’ pure love: even in separation, they inquire about Kṛṣṇa (and His family’s welfare) with heartfelt concern, revealing selfless bhakti.
Uddhava had come from Mathurā, where Kṛṣṇa and His Yādava relatives lived; Nanda naturally asked about their friend from that dynasty—Kṛṣṇa (and His father Vasudeva)—using the family epithet connected to Śūra/Śūrasena.
Practice loyal, principled friendship—consistently wishing others’ good, checking on their welfare, and remaining supportive without selfish motives.
