Akrūra’s Mission: The Departure from Vraja and the Yamunā Vision of Viṣṇu-Ananta
स्त्रीणामेवं रुदन्तीनामुदिते सवितर्यथ । अक्रूरश्चोदयामास कृतमैत्रादिको रथम् ॥ ३२ ॥
strīṇām evaṁ rudantīnām udite savitary atha akrūraś codayām āsa kṛta-maitrādiko ratham
गोपियाँ इस प्रकार रो रही थीं, तभी सूर्योदय हुआ। अक्रूर ने प्रातः-संध्या, पूजा आदि कर्तव्य कर के रथ को हाँकना आरम्भ किया।
According to some Vaiṣṇava authorities, Akrūra offended the gopīs by not consoling them when he took Kṛṣṇa to Mathurā, and because of this offense Akrūra was later forced to leave Dvārakā and be separated from Kṛṣṇa during the episode of the Syamantaka jewel. At that time Akrūra had to take up an ignoble residence in Vārāṇasī.
They were overwhelmed by separation as Kṛṣṇa was being taken toward Mathurā, and the sunrise signaled that the departure was truly happening.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī narrates this to Mahārāja Parīkṣit as part of the account of Akrūra’s journey with Kṛṣṇa.
Even amid intense events, one can maintain steadiness and discipline—anchoring life in dharma while keeping the heart devoted to Bhagavān.
