Brahmā Worships Vāmana; the Demons Attack; Bali is Bound and Questioned About the Third Step
yaḥ prabhuḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ sukha-duḥkhopapattaye taṁ nātivartituṁ daityāḥ pauruṣair īśvaraḥ pumān
This verse states that the Supreme Lord, master of all beings, is the ultimate arranger of the appearance of happiness and distress; no worldly power can override His will.
In the narrative context of Canto 8, Shukadeva emphasizes to the Daityas that their strength and schemes cannot surpass the Supreme Lord’s plan, underscoring divine sovereignty over outcomes.
Do your duty sincerely, but accept results with humility—seeing सुख and दुःख as ultimately under God’s control—reducing anxiety and strengthening steady devotion.
