किमङ्ग त्वा मघवन् भोजमाहुः शिशीहि मा शिशयं त्वा शृणोमि । अप्नस्वती मम धीरस्तु शक्र वसुविदं भगमिन्द्रा भरा नः
kím aṅgá tvā maghavan bhójām āhuḥ śiśī́hi mā́ śiśayáṃ tvā śr̥ṇomi | ápnasvatī máma dhī́r astu śakra vasuvídaṃ bhágam índrā́ bharā naḥ ||
Why, pray, do men call thee, O Maghavan, a Benefactor? Sharpen thyself for me; I whet thee, I hear thee. Let my thought be rich in gain, O Śakra: bring hither unto us, O Indra, fortune that finds out wealth.
हे मघवन्, लोग तुम्हें ‘भोज’ (उपकारक/दाता) क्यों कहते हैं? मेरे लिए स्वयं को तीक्ष्ण करो; मैं तुम्हें धार देता हूँ, मैं तुम्हारी वाणी सुनता हूँ। हे शक्र, मेरी धीर (बुद्धि/प्रार्थना) लाभ से युक्त हो। हे इन्द्र, हमारे लिए वह ‘भग’ (सौभाग्य) यहाँ लाओ जो धन को खोज निकालता है, जो वसु-वित् है।
