अश्वायन्तो गव्यन्तो वाजयन्तो हवामहे त्वोपगन्तवा उ । आभूषन्तस्ते सुमतौ नवायां वयमिन्द्र त्वा शुनं हुवेम
aśvāyántó gavyántó vājáyanto havāmahe tvópagantavā́ u | ābhū́ṣantas te sumatáu navā́yāṃ vayám indra tvā śunáṃ huvema
Seeking steeds, seeking kine, seeking the prize of strength, we invoke thee, that thou mayest draw nigh. Adorning ourselves for thy gracious favour in this new occasion, we, O Indra, would call thee for our weal.
अश्वों की कामना करते हुए, गौओं की कामना करते हुए, बल के पुरस्कार (वाज) की कामना करते हुए, हम तुम्हें पुकारते हैं—तुम हमारे पास आओ। इस नये अवसर पर तुम्हारी सुमति (कृपादृष्टि) के लिए अपने को सुसज्जित करते हुए, हे इन्द्र, हम अपने कल्याण के लिए तुम्हें शुभ रूप से आवाहन करते हैं।
