Sukta 4
एयमगन् दक्षिणा भद्रतो नो अनेन दत्ता सुदुघा वयोधाः । यौवने जीवानुपपृञ्चती जरा पितृभ्य उपसंपराणयादिमान्
éyam agan dakṣiṇā́ bhadrató no anéna dattā́ sudúghā vayodhā́ḥ | yáuvane jīvā́n anupapṛ́ñcatī jarā́ pitṛ́bhya upasáṃparāṇayād imā́n ||
Hither hath Dakṣiṇā come, auspicious unto us—by this, when duly given, well-milking, setting vigor. Sprinkling the living with youth, may she, when age draws on, convey these unto the Fathers, leading them safely over.
यहाँ दक्षिणा हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी होकर आई है—इसके द्वारा, विधिपूर्वक दी गई यह सुदुघा (अच्छी तरह दुहने वाली), वयो-धा (बल/तेज बढ़ाने वाली) है। यह युवावस्था से जीवितों को सींचती रहे; और जब जरा निकट आए, तब इन्हें पितरों के पास सुरक्षित पहुँचाए, पार उतारने वाली बने।
